Event Details

You can come early or stay late and work in the Youth Department on your research. Librarians will be available to offer assistance.

The Young Chautauqua program involves students who portraying significant historical figures. The goal is to understand the past and how the past continues to shape our values, opinions, and policies. The significant ideas and important accomplishments of each historical figure are presented through a dramatic monologue. Students will meet twice a week until the final performance, which will take place early September. It is a lot of work but students  find the intense preparation, including library and internet research, careful reading, note-taking, preparation of monologues, rehearsing, and performing for a variety of audiences rewarding and stimulating.
